Two Dead in Separate Crashes in Lucas and Scioto Counties

Two people died in two separate crashes in Lucas and Scioto counties, Ohio, within a day of each other. The first accident in Scioto County occurred on Tuesday, December 14th. The cause of the crash was not immediately available.

However, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that the crash happened along U.S. 23. The investigators said the accident occurred near milepost three as the driver pulled out of a private driveway. The driver, Tracie Malone, 43, of Portsmouth, sustained severe injuries, and medics conveyed her to the hospital.

They later transported her to another hospital, where she died from her injuries. The OSHP said a driver traveling northbound on U.S. 23 struck Malone’s car. There are no charges at this time.

The accident in Lucas County happened in Toledo during the early hours of Wednesday morning, December 15th. The investigation disclosed that a pickup truck struck a car turning onto Dorr Street. The fire crew tried to get the affected driver out of the vehicle and save their life. However, the motorist died at the accident scene.

There is no update on the pickup driver’s condition at this time. The accident led to the closure of Byrne and Secor Road for several hours.

Investigations into both crashes in Lucas and Scioto counties are ongoing.

In the first half of 2021, 20,160 people died in traffic collisions in the United States. When a person dies in an accident, their legal beneficiaries will file a lawsuit against the person that caused the accident. This is known as a wrongful death action. If the lawsuit succeeds, the legal beneficiaries get economic and non-economic damages.
