Hamilton County has agreed to pay a $550,000 settlement to a man who was severely injured three years ago when a Job and Family Services worker struck him with her vehicle.
Documents show the county board of commissioners approved the $550,000 settlement agreement in May.
On Feb. 15, 2018, Christine Burdette was driving on Central Parkway when she struck John Isome. According to the lawsuit, Isome was in a crosswalk and Burdette “failed to maintain a proper lookout and failed to yield the right of way” while making a right turn.
The accident left Isome, now 70, permanently injured due to damage to his left leg, the lawsuit said. When the civil complaint was filed in January 2020, he had incurred nearly $240,000 in medical expenses.
Isome’s attorney, Martin Young, said his client underwent three surgeries, as well as physical therapy and other rehabilitation, and that he had to learn how to walk again.
The case was filed in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
