The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department took two people into custody following a police chase that ended in an Interstate 75 traffic collision in Cincinnati. The accident involving a semi-truck happened on Thursday morning, October 28th. Speed appeared to have contributed to the crash.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. near the Western Hills Viaduct. The sheriff’s office said that narcotics officers tried stopping a stolen 2021 Toyota Corolla driven by Domonick Johnson of Hamilton. The car had Damone Davis, also of Hamilton, as a passenger.
The investigators said Johnson was driving in the 1000 block of roadway Street as he tried to get away from the police. He went through the Hard Rock Casino parking garage and ended up on the ramp for southbound Interstate 71. The sheriff’s office said the chase reached Fort Washington Way, the Sixth Street Viaduct, and the Gest Street towards Freeman Avenue.
Johnson continued north on Freeman before merging on Winchell and then onto northbound Interstate 75 near Ezzard Charles. When he entered I-75, the man lost control of the car and struck a semi around the 2.5-mile marker. The sheriff’s office said the collision with the semi-truck disabled the stolen car, ending the chase. There is no report of an injury from the Interstate 75 traffic collision, but the police arrested Johnson and Davis.
